Upholstery Cleaning Tips to Keep Your Furniture Looking New

Upholstered furniture is a wonderful addition to any home. It’s cozy and comfortable to sit on, but it can also get a lot of wear and tear over time, especially when kids or pets are around. As such, it’s important to know how to clean your upholstery so that you can keep it looking as good as new.

Vacuum regularly (at least once a week) to remove dust and other debris that can accumulate over time. Regular vacuuming will also help prevent stains from getting deep into the fabric, and it will also make your sofa last longer.

Spot-clean stains with a cleaning solution that is safe for your fabric type. Some fabrics require special treatment, such as wool or silk, so be sure to read the label and follow any instructions for a particular stain cleaner.

Blot up spills before they become a full-blown stain and do not rub, which can damage your furniture and cause the spill to spread further. For example, if you spill coffee on your couch, a dab of diluted vinegar should take care of it.

Avoid using soap or detergent as this can sink into the padding and spawn bacteria, which isn’t desirable for your furniture. If you must use a liquid cleaner, blot the area with a clean cloth and water first. If that doesn’t work, repeat the process several times until the stain is gone.

Mix a mixture of equal parts of vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle to create a gentle fabric cleaner that will remove stains. If your furniture is made of leather, add a few drops of olive oil to the solution.

Pet Hair Removal

If you have a pet, it’s important to keep their fur off your furniture as much as possible. Pet hair can make your upholstery look dull and worn down, so it’s best to pick up loose fur and throw it away if you see it. If you can’t dispose of it, try removing it by using a lint roller or damp sponge.

For stubborn stains, consider enlisting the help of a professional upholstery cleaner. They can take care of tough stains and make your furniture look as good as new again!

Allergens and Pollutants:

One of the biggest concerns with upholstered furniture is that it can release allergens and pollutants into the air. This is not only unpleasant for you and your family, but it can also affect your health in a negative way.

To reduce these particles, vacuum regularly and use a yearly professional cleaning service. By ensuring that your upholstery is well-maintained, you will be able to enjoy the comfort and beauty of your furniture without worrying about allergens and other particles escaping your home.

When to Call a Professional For Upholstery Cleaning

As with most other things in your home, it is best to call in professional cleaners when your furniture needs the most care. Not only will these professionals take the stress out of keeping your furniture in top shape, but they can also save you money!
